The West Chester Lacrosse Association (WCLA) Board of Directors announces a new partnership with dynamic lacrosse leaders John Nostrant and Mike DelGrande, effective immediately. Both Nostrant and DelGrande have extensive and impressive backgrounds in youth and high school lacrosse. The partnership will initially focus on the 2018/2019 WCLA Boys Fall and Winter Skills Clinics.
Nostrant is the co-founder of the locally and nationally recognized Mesa Lacrosse program and serves as the Boys’ Varsity Head Lacrosse Coach at The Haverford School.
As a player, he was a 3-time All-American midfielder at Washington College and a 2-time All-Pro player for the Philadelphia Wings and the Baltimore Thunder. Coach Nostrant has served as the Head Coach of The Haverford School since 1991 with a win total approaching 500. He also served as an assistant coach for the gold medal winning 2008 USA U-19 lacrosse team.
DelGrande, the Director of Operations for the Mesa Lacrosse program, has been involved with youth and high school lacrosse for the past 30 years. He previously served for 8 years as Athletic Director and Boys Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach for Philadelphia based Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.
Prior to Springside Chestnut Hill he spent 20 years as the Head Boys Lacrosse Coach for the Bullis School in Maryland. During his time at Bullis, he was named US Lacrosse/Potomac Chapter – Coach of the Year and Man of the Year. DelGrande was elected into the USILA/Potomac Chapter Hall of Fame in 2010.
Founded in 1984 by Roger Smith, West Chester Lacrosse Association is a 501 ©(3) organization dedicated to the development of boys and girls lacrosse. The mission is to promote character, teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship in the game of lacrosse, in a safe environment. The program has grown to over 900 players and is the largest and most successful year-round boys and girls program in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
“We are excited to begin a new chapter of WCLA with John Nostrant and Mike DelGrande at the helm of our Boys Fall and Winter Clinics. As the youth lacrosse landscape continues to evolve, we continue to look for ways ways to grow and strengthen our program,” stated the WCLA Board of Directors. “John and Mike will develop a skills-based and progressive curriculum for players of all abilities.
