Westtown School 2019 LSM/defenseman Jack DeVuono has been named the Pansini Law Group Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
The award recognizes senior and junior lacrosse players that excel in academics, service and athletics.

What are your college, service, future goals?
DeVuono: “My goals are all about finding something I can enjoy and do well with to study in college. I enjoy science, mainly chemistry, and creating things so I’m looking into chemistry and chemical engineering mostly. After that, I’ve always kind of wanted to work with space programs to help develop technology to live in space so I guess you could say that’s my dream job. As for lacrosse and sports, it would be fun to play in college though it’s not my priority.”
How do you describe leadership?
DeVuono: “Leadership to me isn’t always about being the hype man or the organizer, but being someone who is 100% focused on the good of the group and making themselves those around them better. They push everyone to achieve their best, and are there to support you at your worst. But most importantly, they are someone who can connect individuals into a cohesive, productive, and formidable group.”
How do you balance lacrosse, school, and extracurriculars?
DeVuono: “For me, balance is all about maximizing my time. I’m the kind of kid who is constantly working on something, even if it doesn’t seem like it. I utilize any time available, whether it means getting up before school to go to the gym or not going to a party to make sure my work gets finished. But I also utilize to the fullest the time I have to relax to make sure my head doesn’t just explode and so I can stay healthy mentally and emotionally, which then means I can do better in everything else.”
