Zach Augustine scored three goals, Nate Hammond won 12 of 16 faceoffs and Andrew Spencer posted 9 saves in goal as host Avon Grove defeated Manheim Township, 10-4, Saturday night in a matchup of two of the top three ranked teams in the region.
The Devils – ranked No. 1 by Phillylacrosse.com – improved to 9-0. Manheim Township, ranked No. 3, suffered its first loss and is 12-1.
Augustine scored two of his goals to help put the Devils up 3-0. It was 4-1 at halftime and 7-3 after three periods. The Blue Streaks pulled within 7-4 but Jackson Muller made it 8-4.
Jason Lengel added two goals for Avon Grove while Joey Borcky, Scooter Whiteside and Jake Smith each had a goal and two assists. Caton Johnson kept the Blue Streaks alive with 13 saves and Zach Diamond scored twice while Sean Curcio had a goal and an assist.
