Jakob Katzen (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends), a sophomore on the McDaniel men’s lacrosse team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 19-25.

The goalie led the Green Terror (6-3, 1-0 CC) to a 7-3 win over Haverford in the conference opener on Saturday. He allowed just three goals while making 14 saves, including eight in the fourth quarter when the Fords pelted the defense with 20 shots. The effort keyed the first time McDaniel opened the Centennial Conferenceschedule with a win since 2003.
For the season, Katzen has an 8.07 goals-against average and .572 save percentage.
Katzen also has been named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Team of the Week for the week of Mar. 19-25.
Katzen was one of 10 Division III players to be named to the team.
Katzen was an All-State pick in 2016 and a Pansini Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
