From Press Release

The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its 2018 Men’s Lacrosse End of Year Awards. The players selected were voted upon by the league’s eight head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own players. Players were named to first, second and honorable mention as well as Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. The coaches also named a Coach of the Year in the conference. Coaches also selected a student-athlete to the All-Sportsmanship team.

CSAC awards went to (from left) Jordan Krug (Cabrini, Player of Year), Riley White (Cabrini Defensove Player of Year), Wayne Safreed (Centenary, Rookei of the Year), Steve Colfer (Cabrini, Coach of Year)

Cabrini University junior attack Jordan Krug (Cherokee-NJ) was named as the 2018 CSAC Player of the Year. Krug joins a long line of Cabrini players who have earned this honor. He was named Rookie of the Year back in 2016. He is the tenth player in program history to be named CSAC Player of the Year. A first-team All-CSAC selection for the third straight season, Krug leads the Cavs in goals with 48, points with 69 and is second on the team in assists with 21. He scored a season-high six goals in a win over Gwynedd Mercy University back on April 18.

Cabrini University junior goalkeeper Riley White (Plymouth-Whitemarsh) was named as the 2018 CSAC Defensive Player of the Year. He is the first Cabrini player to win this honor, since the award was introduced three years ago. Posting a 7.31 GAA, he was third in the conference in that honor, and had .561 save percentage. A first-team All-CSAC selection, he had a season-high 19 saves in a season-opening win over Dickinson back on March 4.

Centenary University freshman goalkeeper Wayne Safreed was named as the 2018 CSAC Rookie of the Year. He is the first Centenary player to win the award since Joey DeBiasse was voted by the coaches back in 2013. An Honorable Mention All-CSAC selection, he was second in the conference in saves per game with 11.83 and posted a 9.02 GAA average. His 142 saves were third best in the CSAC.

Finally, Cabrini University head coach Steve Colfer was named as the 2018 CSAC Coach of the Year. Named by his peers as the Coach of the Year for the 12th time in his career, he led the Cavs to a 14-2 mark and a 7-0 record in the CSAC. The Cavaliers have won 115 straight CSAC regular season contests, an NCAA record for most conference wins. He is 259-69 in his career, and has led the Cavs to 17 straight CSAC titles.
