Brogden Cup roundup: Canada finishes off sweep of USA in Boys U19, Girls U17

Andrew Dalton scored three goals and Jack Henry Boyden added two goals and an assist as Team Canada toppled Team USA, 12-4, today to finish a 3-game sweep at the Brogden Cup at the University of Tampa.

The win gave Team Canada an overall record of 7-1-1 and the overall championship in the three-day tourney run by Legacy Global. The USA teams were comprised of team champions (boys) from the National Lacrosse Classic and girls’ All-Stars (U17). Team Canada was comprised of All-Stars from Team Ontario.

Also for Canada in the U19 win, Mitcheal Taylor had a goal and an assist, Edward Qu, Josh Fairey, Joshua Rosa, Jake Rosa and Scott Reed each scored once and Johnathan Peshko had two assists. Andrew Lagano had 7 saves and Caleb Creasor stopped 6 shots. For Team USA, Dominic Corto (York Suburban) scored twice while Matt Heuston (Hempfield) and Anthony Caparuscio (Crestwood) each scored once. Connor Covey (Westminster, MD) added two assists while Ryan Eife (Central Bucks East) and Mark Sickler (Hershey) had two caused turnovers apiece. Josh Estavillo (Monroe Twp, NJ) had 8 saves and Logan Covey (Westminster, MD) had four saves and two caused turnovers.

Also today, Canada downed USA in the final Girls U17 game, 11-6. as Jillian McNaughton had four goals and an assist, Lexie Delisle had three goals and an assist and Alexandra Nesbitt had a goal and four assists. Meg Hiltz added a goal and an assist while Jill Fenech and Zoey Kruger each scored once. Madison Barber (Middle Township, N.J.) had two goals and an assist for USA while Olivia John (Wake Forest, N.C.), Allison Crusey (Lithia, FL), Mckenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y.) and Audrey Estavillo (Monroe Twp, NJ) each scored once and Ahnika Eberl (Schalick, N.J.) had 5 saves.
