This offseason, the Saint Joseph’s men’s lacrosse program is individually introduce its 19 newest Hawks, which includes 17 true freshmen, a sophomore transfer, and a graduate student addition to the 2018 spring roster. With the departure of 18 letterwinners, including five starters, from last year’s team, this incoming group comprised of three attackmen, 11 midfielders, four defensemen, and a goalkeeper will add to a Hawks squad that has reached the Northeast Conference postseason in three of their last four seasons under the direction of seventh-year head coach Taylor Wray.

A three-time All-Conference pick, US Lacrosse All-American and All-Phillylacrosse.com Second Team pick, Vandegrift led ANC to three consecutive conference titles and a three-year record of 46-10. The attackman also ranked third in the state in points as a sophomore and played freshman lacrosse at Penn Charter. A local product out of Abington, Pennsylvania, Vandegrift was a three-sport athlete at ACN, also lettering in soccer and ice hockey. Lacrosse runs in the family as Vandegrift’s brother, Ray, played lacrosse for Saint Joseph’s from 2014-17, notching 31 goals and 18 assists in 54 appearances.
Explain who or what most influenced you to attend SJU:
“My older brother, Ray, attended and played lacrosse at SJU, and I loved being around the school, city, and lacrosse culture there.”
