From Press release

Colgate Men’s Lacrosse fall workouts are well underway and head coach Mike Murphy says the newest members of his squad are providing outstanding contributions.

Murphy added 14 newcomers to the team this year – 13 incoming first-years and one transfer.

“I’ve been very impressed with our young guys,” Murphy said. “Every day, we look at who really stood out and there have been some young players.”

Murphy mentioned Michael Hawkins, James Caddigan Jr., and Bobby Goggin as first-years on the offensive side of the ball who are making an impact. Sophomore transfer Alex Ives from St. Joseph’s also is turning heads.

On defense, Murphy mentioned close defenseman Charlie Messineo and long-stick midfielder Nick Salameda as the early leaders.

“All of the young guys have been doing a nice job,” Murphy said. “But those are the ones who really have been pushing some of the veteran guys in front of them.”

Seven different states are represented by the incoming first-years, led by three apiece from Connecticut and New York. California and New Jersey produced two apiece, and there is one each from Delaware, North Carolina and Virginia.
