Philly grads dominating D1 defender laxbytes.com Player Impact Ratings

Philly women ranked 1-2-3 and claimed five of the Top 10 ranked players in this week’s laxbytes.com Division I defender Player Impact Ratings.

Lehigh’s Julianna D’Orazio (Merion Mercy), William & Mary’s Abby Junior (Radnor) and Cornell’s Catie Smith (Conestoga) were 1-2-3 andAlso in the Top 10 are No. 6 Katy Junior (Radnor) of Penn, No. 9 Alex Argo of Princeton and No. 10 Jill Zubillaga (Unionville) of Oregon.

The rankings are based on a combined percentage calculated on players stats such as groundballs, caused turnovers and draw controls as well as other key statistics.

D’Orazio, the Junior sisters and Smith all played for the Phantastix.

No. 3 Smith (Conestoga) has 22 groundballs, 14 caused turnovers, 10 draw controls and only 3 turnovers.

No. 6 Katy Junior (Radnor) has 17 groundballs and 17 caused turnovers.

No. 9  Argo has 10 groundballs, 6 caused turnovers and 5 groundballs in 4 games for 5-0 Princeton.

No. 10 Zubillaga (Unionville) has 23 draw controls, 15 caused turnovers, 12 groundballs, 5 goals and 2 assists for 6-3 Oregon.
