Philly girls’ HS previews: Suburban One’s Wissahickon, Hatboro Horsham

This is one of a series of previews for the 2017 Philly lacrosse season

Wissahickon High School

League: Suburban American

Head Coach: Patty Kovacs, Third Year

Last season’s record: 7-2 conference, 10-7 overall, finished 3rd in conference, lost in first round of playoffs.

Key returnees:
Megan DeGroat, Senior, Defense
Emily Vervlied, Senior, Attack
Carolyn Wilde, Senior, Attack
Kelly Dickson, Sophomore, Attack/Defense
Sam Intrieri, Sophomore, Attack

Coach’s Outlook for 2017: “We have a young, passionate team with a lot of talent. Our returning players bring a love of the game and a desire to win, which has been taking over the entire team. I have a positive outlook on the upcoming season as we have a strong group of experienced returnees and new, talented players, working together to be competitive this year.”

Hatboro Horsham Senior High School

League: Suburban One

Head Coach: Marie Schmucker, Coaching at collegiate and High school level for 30 years

Last year’s record: 03-15

Key returnees: Seniors: Kaitlyn Wallace, Gabby and Gwyn Acker, Olivia Tice on midfield/attack, Maria Sims in goal. Junior Kerryn Macbride on attack and underclassmen, Megan Acker on defense and Arielle Hammer in goal.

Coach’s Outlook for 2017: “We are extremely excited for this year’s experienced seniors to help lead the entire team to many victories this season. We have incredibly talented veteran varsity and and new players that will exemplify dedication, good sportsmanship and determination in the 2017 season.”
