March 19, 2017 by Chris Goldberg

Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 3/19/17
This is one of a series of previews for the 2017 Philly lacrosse season

Delaware County Christian School

League: Bicentennial Athletic League(BAL)

Head Coach: Coach Ashton Dwyer, 1st Season

Last year’s record: 6-10

Key returnees: Seniors Allie Zubyk & Taylor Mingle

Coach’s Outlook for 2017: “We have high hopes for the 2017 season. Collectively, the girls have a positive attitude, a ton of energy, and mesh as a team very nicely. The team’s chemistry both on and off the field is truly inspiring. We will seek to glorify God through our Christian devotion, encouraging relationships, and relentless work ethic. The DC Lady Knights will have great success this season.”

Lower Moreland High School

League: Bicentennial Athletic League

Head Coach: Jess Ashenbrenner (6th year)

Last year’s record: 3-12 (1-5 in the BAL)

Key returnees: Lexi Kauffman (attack/center); Yasmine Machlof (mid); Hanah Buczacki (attack); Meghan Choi (defense), Mel Jade Goldstein (goalie); Gina Zarzycki (attack)

Coach’s Outlook for 2017: “Last year, the LM girls lacrosse team ultimately increased their momentum and ended the season with three solid wins. My hope this year is that the girls will begin the season with the confidence they ended with last season.

“We have a strong group of returners across the field and I am excited to see how they connect. As a school without a middle school program, we lack experience compared to our opponents; however, we have a strong group of athletes who are involved in multiple sports. Our goalie, Mel Goldstein, is also a three year varsity starter and I am hopeful that her experience and communication, along with strong returners on defense and attack, will help lead this team to success.”
