From Press Release
Following impressive success during the spring semester, 20 members of the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team have been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league on Wednesday. The 20 honorees are most in head coach Kevin Cassese’s 10-year tenure at Lehigh. Leading the way for the Mountain Hawks was sophomore Chris Kiernan (Political Science) and freshman Conor Gaffney (Mechanical Engineering), who each tallied a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester. Lehigh featured two of the twelve 4.0 spring GPAs in the Patriot League.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring championship sports.
In total, nine Lehigh student-athletes recorded a 3.50 GPA or higher. Behind Kiernan and Gaffney was senior Cody Triolo with a 3.95 (Civil Engineering and Finance), freshman Austin Pierce with a 3.74 (Arts and Sciences) and freshman Parker Kent with a 3.71 (Business). Sophomore Matt Rimolfollowed with a 3.69 (Business) while classmate Jackson Mononin tallied a 3.58 (Financial Engineering), junior Danny Norris posted a 3.53 (Mechanical Engineering) and sophomore Tristan Rairecorded a 3.50 (Psychology).
The latest academic honors continue a long list of recognition for the Mountain Hawks. As a team, Lehigh eclipsed a 3.0 semester GPA this past fall and spring. Triolo was named a USILA Scholar All-American, earned Academic All-Patriot League recognition and was named a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.
The Mountain Hawks wrapped up the 2017 season at 7-7 overall, advancing to their seventh straight Patriot League Tournament. Lehigh and Army West Point are the only two programs to compete in each of the last seven tournaments. Among Lehigh’s highlight moments was two top-20 wins, over Boston University (in the regular season) and Princeton.
