Parkland 2018 attackman Ian O’Neill has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Widener University.

Ian O’Neill profile:

Ian O’Neill

High school: Parkland High School

Position: Attackman

Grad year: 2018

College committed to: Widener University

Club team: Twist Lacrosse (Duke’s LC)

Lacrosse honors: Morning Call All Area Team (16′, 17′), NSCLA Showcase, National 175 Best of the Best All-Star Showcase, Liberty Bell Challenge All-star

Academic honors: Honor Roll

Expected field of study:
Business / Finance

Why did you choose Widener? “After looking at several schools, Widener stood out as an excellent choice for me based upon my major and the co-op program it has to offer. After I visited the school and spent time on campus, Coach (Jamie) Lockard and the team made it feel like the right choice for me to grow as a student-athlete.

HS team’s 2018 outlook: “Our team is loaded with talent from top to bottom with eight returning starters and a strong defense, great middies/fFOGO and a strong returning offense that will once again head into the state playoffs with a goal of winning the title. We will not settle for anything less and we have the talent to go all the way.”

Thank You: “First and foremost, I would like to thank my parents for supporting me both on and off the field and for encouraging me to be my best. I would also like to thank the coaches at Twist, along with my high school and SPA youth coaches for teaching me along the way.”

Other schools considered: DeSales, Lycoming, Susquehanna and Mount St. Mary’s
