Loyola University will host Boston University tonight at 5 p.m. in the Patriot League semifinals.
And a key player for Loyola will be senior midfielder Katrina Geiger, a Haverford High grad who has overcome a multitide of serious injuries and recently was named Second Team All-Patriot League.
Geiger returned to the field this year after a season-ending injury kept her out of the lineup last year. A native of Drexel Hill, Geiger compiled 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) through the regular season. She’s also tied for second on the team in assists and fifth in ground balls (21) and caused turnovers (11).
Geiger has overcome the following injuries at Loyola:
*Junior year played only 10 games due to meniscus tear
*Red-shirt Junior year missed all season but 1 game versus FL with navicular foot fracture
*Sophomore year missed season with ACL
Geiger and the Greyhounds are hosting the Patriot League Tournament for a fourth-straight year. Since Loyola has joined the Patriot League, the Greyhounds have posted an overall record of 34-0 in regular-season games and a 6-0 mark in tournament games. The winner of the Loyola-BU game will play the Lehigh-Navy winner in the finals Sunday.
