The Lafayette women’s lacrosse program, under the direction of 10th-year head coach Alison Fisher (Hatboro-Horsham), announced seniors Anna Raymond, Kristin Schaen (Kennett) and Dana Smith (Princeton, NJ) as captains for the 2018 team on Monday afternoon.

“The team put a lot of time and thought into their nominations for captains and leadership council this fall, and have selected great representatives in Kristin, Anna and Dana,” Fisher said. “Each of them possesses a different leadership style and brings a different energy to the team. Collectively, they are a force that can drive us to reaching our goals this spring. Coming off a successful season a year ago, these three and their fellow seniors have a vision for how they want to end their Lafayette careers and we’re excited about what the 2018 team can accomplish.”

Raymond saw action in 15 games during her junior campaign between the pipes, leading the team in saves with 75 over her 458:37 of action. As a junior, she boasted a 4-4 record and made double-digit saves on five different occasions, including 14 in the Patriot League quarterfinal game against Boston U.

Schaen was the team’s draw control specialist for the majority of the season, leading the team with 76. In her junior season, she also tallied four goals and six assists to go along with nine ground balls and five caused turnovers.

Smith was the anchor of the Leopard defense, finishing fourth on the team in caused turnovers with 18 and tied for first in ground balls with 42. In addition to her on-the-field success, she was an Academic All-Patriot League selection in 2017 and was named the Lafayette Maroon Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Dec. 7.

Raymond, Schaen, Smith and their fellow teammates will open their 2018 campaign on Feb. 11, traveling to Longwood with opening draw set for 1 p.m.
