Johns Hopkins senior midfielder Haley Schweizer (St. Mark’s-DE, Ultimate Lacrosse) has been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Third Team All-America it was announced this afternoon. She is just the fourth midfielder in school Division I history to earn All-America honors.
Hopkins has now produced 13 IWCLA Division I All-Americans and 45 all-time. Four Blue Jay middies have combined to earn five All-America honors since 2004. This is the fourth straight year that a Hopkins midfielder has garnered All-America accolades.
A four-time IWLCA All-Region honoree and 2017 All-Big Ten selection, Schweizer led the Blue Jays in points (47) and goals (36) while ranking second in draws (35) and caused turnovers (18). She posted career highs in every statistical category in 2017 and more than doubled her career total in assists. She also had five hat tricks and tallied at least one point in 16 of Hopkins’ 18 games this season.
Schweizer finished her career as the all-time leader in both games played (75) and games started (75). She also ranks in the top-20 in school Division I history in career points (122 • 15th), points by a midfielder (4th), goals (103 • 10th), draws (95 • 9th) and caused turnovers (66 • T-8th). Schweizer earned Big Ten All-Tournament team honors after totaling five points, three goals and five draws in her final collegiate game, a 19-16 loss at top-ranked Maryland.
