Hofstra University Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Shannon Smith announced that 10 talented student-athletes have signed their National Letters of Intent to begin their academic and athletic journey at Hofstra beginning in the fall of 2018.

“We are thrilled to add such an outstanding group of young women to the Hofstra Lacrosse program,” commented Smith. “These 10 student-athletes will be great additions to our program and the Hofstra community. They represent five different states, including a large group from our home on Long Island. We are proud to have so many Long Islanders as part of this class, while also bringing in other strong student-athletes from other areas of the country.”

Attack/Midfielder Camryn Faith (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley)
Member of 2015 state champion in lacrosse…Three sport athlete including lacrosse, basketball and soccer…Four-year starter in lacrosse…Honorable Mention All-Delco…Named Most Improved Player…Has scored 109 goals and 33 assists in her varsity career…Brother, Connor, plays football at Carnegie Mellon and father, Ken, played rugby at Drexel.

Midfielder Alyssa DeAngelo (Sewell, NJ/Clearview Regional)
Has played four years of lacrosse and one year of soccer for the Pioneers…Named all-conference in lacrosse as a sophomore and junior…All-South Jersey First Team and All NJ Group IV Third Team as a junior…Had 44 goals, 94 draw controls, 66 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers last season…A team captain in 2017…Cousin, Anthony DeAngelo, plays professional hockey and is part of the New York Rangers organization.

Attack Erin Demek (Ellicott City, MD/Mount Hebron)
Has played four years of varsity lacrosse and basketball and three years of field hockey for the Vikings…Team captain as a junior…Has totaled 82 goals and 23 assists during her varsity career, including 35 goals and 12 assists last season…Member of National Honor Society.

Midfielder Jaclyn Gatti (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa)
Five-year member of varsity lacrosse team…Named All-County as a junior and Honorable Mention All-County as a freshman and sophomore…Had 36 goals last season for the Chiefs and has totaled 76 goals during her varsity career…Team was country champions as a sophomore and junior….Father, Kenneth, was a member of the football team at Wake Forest and brothers played collegiate lacrosse.

Midfielder Amanda Guerra (Babylon, NY/Babylon Junior-Senior)
Named county unsung hero as a junior…Had 31 goals and 11 assists last season…Varsity totals of 62 goals and 26 assists…Has been on varsity since eighth grade…Three sport athlete as she is also an accomplished basketball and soccer player for the Panthers.

Attack/Midfielder Madison Johnstone (Gainesville, FL/Buchholz)
Team MVP…had 54 goals (school record), 20 assists, 30 draw controls, 20 caused turnovers and 18 ground balls as a junior…2016 and 2017 All-Area First Team…2015 All-Area Second Team…2017 Team Captain…Team has been district runner-up in each of the last three seasons…Member of National Honor Society…Intends to major in biology.

Defender Anna Kaufmann (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh)
Member of lacrosse, track, cross country and soccer teams…Four year varsity lacrosse player…Part of National Honor Society and National Foreign Language Honor Society…Lacrosse team was County Champions in 2015 and 2017…Part of school record 4×400 replay team…Named All-County Honorable Mention as a junior.

Attacker Grace Langella (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West)
Four year member of varsity lacrosse team…Named All-Country and All-Tournament as a junior…Earned All-Division award as a sophomore…Two-year member of National Honor Society…Also a member of English and Spanish Honor Society…Father, Ron, played football at Wagner.

Goalie Jess Smith (Babylon, NY/West Babylon)
Named All-Country as a sophomore and junior…Had over a 50% save percentage in both seasons…Team finished in second place in county as a sophomore and was a semifinalists as a junior…Also a member of the field hockey team.

Defender Erin Tierney (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa)
Member of the varsity lacrosse team for five seasons…Team was country champions as a sophomore and junior….Led team in draw controls and caused turnovers as a junior…Named All-Country as a junior as well as Second Team All-Long Island and Honorable Mention All-American…Father, Seth, played collegiate lacrosse at Johns Hopkins and is the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Hofstra…Brother, Ryan, is a sophomore on the Hofstra Men’s Lacrosse team.
