After scoring a career-high seven goals at American in SJU’s season opener on Saturday, Saint Joseph’s junior attacker Nora McCallion (Narberth, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) has been selected the Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. The honor marks the first of her career. McCallion shares the honor with Erika Eipp of UMass.
McCallion took seven shots on the afternoon and scored on all of them in the Hawks’ 15-12 loss to the Eagles. The junior captain added a ground ball and caused turnover, as well.
McCallion and the Hawks are set to host Monmouth in the 2016 home opener this Wednesday, February 24. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.
Sacred Heart’s Delaney (Cherry Hill East) named NEC Defensive Player of the Week
Sacred Heart junior midfielder Caitlin Delaney (Cherry Hill East) was named the Northeast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Through two games so far in 2016, Delaney leads Sacred Heart with seven caused turnovers and 11 groundballs.
In a 15-12 loss to Marist last Monday, the junior scooped up four ground balls and caused two turnovers. The Cherry Hill product was even better in a 14-10 triumph over Holy Cross on Saturday, finishing with five caused turnovers and grab seven ground balls.
