Jericho (N.Y.) 2019 midfielder Ben Weinberg has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lehigh University.

Ben Weinberg profile:

Ben Weinberg
Ben Weinberg

High School: Jericho Senior High School, N.Y.

Graduation Year: 2019

Position: Midfield

College Choice: Lehigh University

Club Affiliation: Long Island Express

Major lacrosse honors: Nassau County B1 All- Conference, Long Island Lax Fest Nassau Team, Under Armour All-American Uncommitted Team, 45 points 43 groundballs Freshman year on varsity

What will you major in/study? Business/ Entrepreneurship

Why did you choose this school? “When I visited I really fell in love with the campus and how beautiful it was. What I liked most was the connection I had with the coaching staff. Coach (Kevin) Cassese was very impressive and motivated. I loved everything about his system and the way he runs his program. Lehigh’s excellence in academics is also very important to me. As a business major at Lehigh I have great options to pursue for my career path. Everything about it was a great fit for me.”

Outlook for 2017 HS season? “We’re a young team, but we are hungry. I learned so much last year starting as a freshman. I can’t wait to get back out on the field and compete in our conference again. I’d like to help put Jericho Lacrosse back on the map!”

People to thank: “I would like to thank my Mom and Dad for providing me with the opportunity and encouragement to pursue lacrosse in college. I am very fortunate to have parents like mine. My older brother has been a great advocate, too. I would also like like to thank my high school and club coaches and trainers. They’ve always showed confidence in my abilities and have allowed me to just play hard and go for it.”

Other schools considered: Ivy League and Patriot League colleges
