St. John the Baptist (N.Y.) 2017 attackman Stephen Becker has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Drexel University.

Major lacrosse honors: Inside Lacrosse Standout, Best of the Best Showcase Honorable Mention, Freshman/Sophomore Varsity Starter, LI Laxfest All-Star, 2017 USA Team (Stars and Stripes) LI Brine team, U15 Nationals Blue Chip 225 All Star

What will you major in/study? Business

Why did you choose this school? “I committed to Drexel because of a great opportunity for education and for a successful life after college. It also is a standout program in college lacrosse under coach (Brian) Voelker who I also am a huge fan of. The location and athletic complex also won me over and I knew that Drexel was the place.”

HS team’s outlook for 2016 season? “My team is coming off a league championship in our 2015 season and we are now under new head coach Tom Gilmartin. Our competition and schedule are going to be very strong in 2016 and St. John the Baptist will be a team to look for.”

People to thank: “I would like to thank both my mom and dad first for everything they had done for me in the lacrosse world; also, my sister and close friends for supporting me regarding lacrosse; most important, all coaches that have contributed to me becoming a better player from 4th grade till junior year.”
