Academy of Notre Dame 2019 midfielder Maggie O’Brien has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Richmond.

Academic honors, service projects: Outstanding Scholar Athlete 2015; Notre Dame Academy Honor Roll

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose this school? “I chose Richmond because I have loved it since the beginning. After visiting several other schools, I realized that Richmond was the best place for me. The academics, student life, and lacrosse program all have so much to offer, and I am so excited to be a part of the Richmond community. I think Richmond is a place where I will be able to reach my full potential and thrive as a student and an athlete.”

Outlook for 2017 HS season? “I am really excited for my sophomore season. Our team is very talented and our coaches are awesome. I’ve personally grown a lot since my freshman year and my teammates and I are ready to get to work in the spring.”

People to thank: ” I would like to thank my parents for putting so much time into my lacrosse career and for standing by all my decisions during the recruiting process. I also want to thank my Phantastix coaches, Jessie Lake and Annie Brophey, for helping me through the process and guiding me in the right direction on and off the field. Thanks also to my high school coaches, Xan Zimatore and Maura Wilson, for always pushing me to do my best, and helping me understand my potential as a lacrosse player.”
