The Bryn Athyn men’s lacrosse team, under first-year head coach Tucker Durkin, will host a special scrimmage on Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts a team comprised of many Philly standouts from high school and college as well as former Johns Hopkins players.
Bryn Athyn will face a team that features players such as former La Salle College standouts Peter Schwartz (Harvard), Jack Bogorowski (Lehigh), Jack Forster (Penn State), Westy Hopkins (Notre Dame), Rob Forster (Penn State), Mike Noone (Lehigh), Thayer Damm (Washington College), Tyler Houchins (Drexel) and Patrick Resch (Duke). Durkin, who helped lead La Salle to the state titles in 2008 and 2009 and was a multi-year All-American and NCAA Defenseman of the Year at Johns Hopkins, is now an All-MLL player for the Florida Launch and a Team USA defenseman who also coaches with the Duke’s Young Guns and Duke’s L.C.
The former college stars club also will feature some of Durkin’s former Hopkins teammates; one being Shipley assistant and Duke’s LC assistant coach Mike Poppleton, a former Hopkins All-American and a key member of the MLL runner-up Rochester Rattlers.
