March 17, 2015 by Chris Goldberg

This is one of a series of previews for the 2015 Philly lacrosse season

West Chester Henderson

League: Ches-Mont

Head Coach: Steph Kienle (2nd year as head coach; 7th season at Henderson overall)
Girls-preview
Last years record: 16 – 5 (finished 3rd in Chesmont; 12th in the Region)

Key returnees:
Senior goalie – Julianna Cantor
Juniors – Ryann Bauer (Mid/attack), Katie Heisman (attack), Kara Reichert (midfield) and Hayley DeAgostine(defense)

Coach’s outlook: “After graduating the Pennsylvania state all-time leading scorer, Katie O’Donnell (currently playing at PSU) you might think this would be a re-building year for us, but we return the core of our starting lineup. Our junior class is an extremely talented and experienced group that show a lot of leadership on the field, which will help to spread things out and create more depth for our team this season.

“We also welcome a strong group of freshman, with a few that will be making varsity appearances and expected to make an immediate impact. Regardless of being a young team we realize every season will have its challenges when you play within a competitive league and district, but the girls have been working hard in the pre-season and are taking it one day/one game at a time, but I know they are up for the challenge and we are looking forward to a great season ahead!”

Bayard Rustin

League: Ches-Mont

Head Coach: Mike St. Clair, 1st year

Last year’s record: 3-15. 9th place

Key returnees:
Skylar Demis midfield sophomore
Ally Fastuca midfield jr.
Michelle Chessock attack soph
Tina St. Clair midfielder fr.
Tori Cugini midfielder jr

Coach’s outlook: “Hopefully be more competitive than 2013. We have a very young team that gained valuable experience last year.”
