Malvern Prep 2018 attackman/midfielder Jack Traynor has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Penn State University.

High School: Malvern Prep

Graduation Year: 2018

Position: Attack/Midfield

College Choice: Penn State University

Club Affiliation:
Mesa Fresh and Freedom

Major lacrosse honors, camps and showcases: Malvern Prep Varsity, Top 88 Under Armor All-American tryouts, All-Star team at IL Invitational, All-Star team at Bison Brawl, Adrenaline Platinum Cup Showcase, Penn Select, Invited to Maverick Showtime

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose school? “My oldest brother Tripp is a sophomore lacrosse player at Penn State, so it’s all very familiar to me. Ultimatly, my decision was made based on the excellent coaches at PSU. Coaches (Jeff( Tambroni, (Peter) Toner, (Chris) Doctor, and (David) Schriver are incredible role models in my continued development into a player and person and preach a blue collar work ethic similar to that of coach McEvoy at Malvern.”

Outlook for 2016 HS season? “We are going to be extremely good. Last year we had a rough season due to injuries to some of our best players, and our team was very young with five freshmen contributors. We will be much stronger, talented, closer and mature this year.”

Thank You: “Most of all, I would like to thank my parents for guiding me throughout the process and making me wait until I was confident in my decision. Thanks to my two older brothers, AJ MP’16 (Loyola) and Tripp MP’14 (Penn St.) for challenging me. And best of luck in the process to my younger Matty MP’21 and Ky ’22. I would like to thank my youth coach, Coach Miller, and the Freedom Lax program for teaching me the fundamentals, and helping me grow a respect for the game. Also thanks to my Mesa coaches, Coach Gabrielsen and Coach O’Grady, who continue to help me become a better player. To all of the MP assistant coaches, Coach MacFarlane, Mackrides, Holmes and McCormick for my development. Lastly to my high school coach, Coach McEvoy, for giving me his constant guidance in the recruiting process and the opportunity to prove myself. To all of the college coaches I met along the way, thanks for your interest and good luck.”

Other schools considered: Penn, Georgetown, Harvard, Cornell, Loyola, Princeton, Maryland, Villanova
