.@MesaFresh2018 excels at Crabfeast with trip to title game

Philadelphia’s Mesa Fresh 2018 team completed a very impressive weekend at Crabfeast, 2015 finishing 5-1 in the nationally recognized Crabfeast where 40 teams from across the country attended.Mesa Fresh jersey

Mesa Fresh was the second seed heading into the Sunday playoff round behind No. 1 seed Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Maryland. Baltimore Crabs, Team 91 and Laxachusetts were seeded third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

The team went 3-0 on Saturday and 2-0 Sunday morning to earn a spot in the Championship game held at Boys Latin High School against the also unbeaten (5-0) FCA – Maryland.

FCA – Maryland beat the Mesa Fresh 2018’s in a very close battle of the top seeds, outscoring it, 7-4.

Mesa Fresh was dominant over the weekend scoring 59 goals while sllowing only 25.

Mesa Fresh 2018 standouts included attackmen Jack Traynor, Luke O’Grady, Jake Smith, Seamus Glynn and Max Winebrake

Midfield standouts included Dalton Pascale, Tate Kienzle, Jimmy Gabrielsen, Will Ciccarelli, Jeff Conner, Jack Earley, Sean Bailey and standout faceoff man Nate Hammond.

The defense was led by Michael O’Grady, Dan Jordon, Ryan Bailey, Harrison Naughton, Sam Sweeney, Will Drake, Jackson Niness and Jack Coogan.

Solid performance all weekend were turned in by goalies Will Brake and Jason Rose.

The team was inspired by injured teammate Cam Battisti, who broke his ankle the week before in the OT win versus True Lacrosse National.

Next up for the Mesa 2018’s is the Inside Lacrosse Invitational at Goucher College July 20-22.
