From Press Release and Staff Report
The University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team has announced that senior All-American defenseman Goran Murray (Haverford School) is ineligible and will not be a member of the Maryland lacrosse team for the 2015 season. Murray has not been with the team since the end of the 2014 season.
Murray has started since he arrived at College Park after earning Under Armour All-American honors at Haverford School. Last year he scooped 17 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers while being named a First-Team USILA All-American.
Murray was one of three starters expected to return on defense; another is senior Casey Ikeda (Conestoga), who was selected in the 8th round (54th pick) by Florida in the MLL collegiate draft Friday night. Murray had originally been expected to be a high pick, but was not eligible for the draft.
Murray was a First-Team All-Phillylacrosse.com pick in 2011 when he helped Haverford School finish undefeated and atop every National poll.
