From Press Release

Head Boston university men’s lacrosse coach Ryan Polley (Malvern Prep) announced the four captains for the 2015 season on Wednesday.

Sophomore Ryan Johnston will help lead the squad for the second straight season and will be joined by classmate Christian Carson-Banister, redshirt sophomore Patrick Donnelly and sophomore Greg Wozniak (Holy Ghost Prep). Johnston and Carson-Banister were elected co-captains by their teammates after the 2014 campaign while Donnelly and Wozniak were recently chosen as leaders by the coaching staff.

“I’m proud to announce Christian, Patrick, Ryan and Greg as this year’s captains,” Polley said. “After last year, Ryan and Christian were elected by the team and have been exemplary leaders both on and off the field ever since. Following a successful fall season, The coaching staff felt that two more Terriers were up to the task and added two student-athletes in Patrick and Greg that have shown exceptional dedication to the team since the program’s beginning. All four bring a great work-ethic and passion to the field and will do a great job as role models this season.”

Each player was instrumental in the success of the Terriers’ inaugural season. Johnston led the team with 17 goals and was third in points with 19 to his credit. Carson-Banister started 12 of the team’s 14 contests and was the team’s Most Valuable Player. He was in the cage for both BU victories and made an NCAA-high 25 saves against eventual national champion Duke. Donnelly tallied three goals in his first season at BU after transferring from Penn State while Wozniak led the Terriers with 24 caused turnovers in addition to his 34 ground balls.

The Terriers, entering their second varsity season, were selected to finish seventh in the Patriot League preseason poll, voted on by the League’s coaches and sports information directors. BU received 46 points in the annual poll. Loyola Maryland was picked to repeat as champion. The Terriers finished seventh in their inaugural campaign after securing road wins over Lafayette and Holy Cross.

BU will begin its 2015 season on Saturday, Feb. 7, when the Terriers welcome Mercer to Nickerson Field. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
