From Press Release
The Boston University women’s lacrosse team and head coach Liz Robertshaw (Strath Haven) announced the Class of 2018 on Thursday. The incoming group consists of nine players from seven states.
“I’m extremely excited to welcome this class to BU because I feel they all have a great combination of athleticism, high level skill sets and the competitive attitude that we are looking for in current and future BU lacrosse players,” Robertshaw said. “These players took the time to really get to know the ins and outs of our team culture; the expectations of each member who plays for BU, where we want the program to go and how they could fit into that, and then they embraced the challenge. We want them to adapt to the speed of the college game as quickly as possible and I feel once they do that we’re looking at a strong group of individuals who can make a serious impact on the next generation of BU lacrosse.”
Five of the freshmen will play in the midfield, with Caroline English available to play attack and Sarah Anderson to feature on defense as well. The true midfielders consist of Alexa Cambi, Maddie Curley and Madison Learned. Learned’s high school teammate, Mickenzie Larivee, will join Avery Donahoe at attack while Maria Guerra is the class’ lone true defender. Christine Laible enters the roster as the group’s only goaltender.
The nine newcomers will join 21 letter winners from last year’s team that advanced to the Patriot League title game in just its first season in the conference. BU begins its fall schedule on Sept. 27 when the Terriers host Louisville on New Balance Field.
