This is one of a series of previews for the 2013 Philly lacrosse season
The Shipley School
Head Coach: Mark Duncan 13, years as Head Coach
Last year’s record: 9-10, 2014 FSL Champs ( 7-0 FSL )
Coach’s Outlook: “The Gators will look to add a 6th consecutive FSL title in as many years in 2014 trying to keep their 35-0 record in league play intact. Defense will be the strength of this squad with Jr co-captains David Wolfson and Chris Verdeur along with short stick middies co-captains Nick Piasecki and Jon Messerschmidt, soph. Nick Gonzalez and freshman Trevor Green keeping the ball down the field in front of sophomore standout goalie Ian Walsh. Last season Walsh played every minute in goal with 278 saves and a .606 save percentage.
“Offense will be the question. Lots of young unproven talent to go along with some veteran leadership. Sr. co-captain Eric Lee handles face offs and will guide the midfield with Jrs. Keagan Farr, Ethan Bradlow and newcomer freshman Nick Yi adding depth. Sophomore Tate Gallagher put up impressive numbers as a freshman playing middie and attack with 28g, 26a- 54pts, the Gators will look to a freshman attack group of Pete Moeller, Chad Allison and Frank Campanale to put up some goals in big games.
“Heading down south to Clearwater Florida March 20th to open the season with 4 official games, the Gators look to return to PA in April ready to defend their FSL title.”
