Westfield (N.J.) 2018 defenseman Patrick McIlroy has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Denver.

Why did you choose school? “I chose the University of Denver for its great academic reputation along with the school’s excellent athletic programs and facilities. After speaking with Coach (Bill) Tierney and touring the campus I knew DU was the perfect school for me. Coach Tierney made me feel like I was already a part of the Pioneer family. I am excited to play with my brother, Matthew, who is a 2016 DU commit.”
Outlook for your High School team? “Westfield HS won the NJ Group 4 State Championship last season and the team is looking to repeat this year.”
Other comments: “I would like to thank my parents for all their support; they have been there for me every step of the way. I would like to thank my older brother, Matthew, for his guidance and help. He always pushes and challenges me to work hard and become a better lacrosse player.
