Henderson High School 2017 midfielder Nick Mascetti has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Quinnipiac University.
Nick Mascetti log:
High School: Henderson High School
Graduation Year: 2017
Position: Midfield
College Choice: Quinnipiac University
Club Affiliations: Manup, Freedom
What will you major in/study? Business
Why did you choose Quinnipiac? “I chose Quinnipiac because of the excellent combination of academics and lacrosse.
“Academically, Quinnipiac offers something called accelerated masters, in which you can graduate with a Master’s Degree in only four years; this is something that really appealed to me and is also something I will pursue.
“The coaches at Quinnipiac (Fekete, Tully, Poli) were all great guys and took me on an outstanding tour of the campus, I instantly fell in love with the feel of the school. I also had a chance to stay overnight on my visit and meet a lot of the players. All of them had nothing but great things to say about the coaches, school and experience they were having at Quinnipiac which really made me confident I was making a great decision.”
HS team’s Outlook for 2015 season? “We return just about all of our starters from last year and are a senior heavy team. We also have strong defensive and goalie play which should allow us to compete for a Chesmont championship and a playoff spot as the year progresses.”
Thank You: First, I would like to thank my Manup coach Jim Schorn. When I met him a few months ago I didn’t really have an understanding on the recruiting process or what type of school I was looking for. He walked me through the process and is responsible for where I am today. He has spent countless hours taking me on visits, working with me on aspects of my game and helping me make a decision that will most benefit me in my life after college and I am truly thankful for that.
“I would next like to thank my freedom coaches (Miller, Goforth) for their help in the process. Then I would like to thank my high school coaches (Stanewicz, Marks) for helping me work on my game and giving me the opportunity to get substantial playing time last spring.
“Finally I would like to thank my parents; they have spent an incredible amount of time driving me to practices, games, tournaments etc. and have completely supported me in my decision.”
Other schools considered: St. Joe’s
