Downingtown East 2015 attackman-midfielder Michael Risser has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Mount St. Mary’s University.

Michael Risser

High School: Downingtown East

Graduation Year: 2015

Position: Attack/Midfield

College Choice: Mount St. Mary’s University

Club Affiliation: Headstrong Green

Lacrosse Honors: Under Armour Underclass games 2014 (Philly), Ches-Mont Honorable Mention 2014

Academic honors, service projects: Honor Roll, Special Olympics volunteer

What will you major in/study? Business/Finance

Why did you choose the Mount? “The Mount had everything I was looking for regarding academics as well as the fine lacrosse program. Finding a school with such a great academic reputation as well as having a fitting lacrosse team is not at all an easy decision. Also, I know Coach Tom Gravante is making great changes, such as the addition of Coach Tim McIntee, and is working hard to get the Mount another NEC Championship.”

What is your team’s outlook for next season? “We will be a contender for a District One Championship. We only lost a few key seniors and the young talent and depth we have will be a contributor to helping us get to where we want to be this spring.”

Thank You: “I want to thank my parents for giving me anything I need to be successful in the sport and in school and for their support throughout the whole recruiting process. I also want to thank my High School coach Todd Cliggett for being a huge help in guiding me throughout the process as well as helping me with anything I needed.

“I want to thank my Assistant Coaches Joe Karpinski, Pat Cullinen and Pete Carozza for teaching and coaching me throughout the Spring season. I also want to thank the Headstrong Foundation including Brian Neary as well as my coaches Brian Zusi, Mike Colleluori and Jake Richard for their continued support as I grew as a lacrosse player.

“Finally, I want to thank my brother Justin for always pushing me to be the best player I can be.”

Other schools considered: Holy Cross, Ursinus, Salisbury, Washington College
