Germantown Academy senior attackman Max Derham has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Villanova University.
High School: Germantown Academy
Graduation Year: 2014
Position: Attack
College Choice: Villanova University
Club Affiliations: Twist Lacrosse and Mainline Lacrosse Club
Major lacrosse honors: 3 GA Varsity Letters for Lacrosse, 1 for Football; 60 goals 35 Assists, Team Captain
Why did you choose Nova? “I have been a Wildcat my entire life. Both my parents attended Villanova, my Dad was a Captain on the lacrosse team and has been an Assistant Coach on the team for 14 years.
“It is safe to say that this was a very easy choice for me. The University’s outstanding academic reputation was without a doubt one of the largest factors for my decision. The lacrosse program has built itself into one of the most competitive teams in the nation consistently ranking in the top 15, so of course this was attractive to me.
“Having been familiar with the program for such a long time I know that the fantastic coaching staff will make me into a better player and person. I am looking forward to these next four years as a time that will shape my life and lead me on to great things.”
Additional Comments: “In my four years in the GA lacrosse program I have learned many things. I owe so much to Coach Grady, Coach Martin, and Coach Samson. They have made my time at GA so much fun, and they have left me with skills I can carry with me on and off the lacrosse field. It is going to be hard knowing that this season will be my last, but I also know that this will only make me want me to work harder and achieve so much more this year. This is going to be a big year for this program, and if we play the way that I know we can it will no doubt lead to bigger and better things for GA Lacrosse.”
Other schools considered: Boston University, Lafayette, Yale
