Manasquan High School (NJ) rising junior midfielder Kirsten Barnes has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Duquesne University.
Kirsten Barnes log:
High School: Manasquan High School, New Jersey
Graduation Year: 2016
Position: Midfield
College Choice: Duquesne University
Club Affiliation: T3 Shore
Major lacrosse honors: Brine National Lacrosse Classic; Team New Jersey, The Coast Star Offensive Player Of The Year Honorable Mention
Academic Honors: Honor Roll 2012-2013 and 2013-2015
What will you major in/study? Education
Why did you choose Duquesne? “I feel this school is the best fit for me. The coaches are awesome and I really felt I fit in with the girls. The thing that I was looking for most in a school was a place where I can do well in the classroom and on the field and Duquesne definitely offers that.”
What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “We had a lot of talented players but unfortunately a lot of injuries. Despite being down key players, we made it to the Group 2 Semi Finals and I hope to make it to the finals next year and take home not only a State title but the Shore Conference Title.”
Additional Comments: “I would like to thank my parents for convincing me to try lacrosse about 3 years ago and supporting me in everything I’ve done. Also my coach Chris Raichle and Director Lori Brown, without them this wouldn’t have been possible.”
Other schools considered: Rutgers, UMass Amherst, James Madison, UMBC, Wagner
