This one was for Nick.
Matt Borchert had four goals and an assist and Lou Harrison tallied four goals while Dawson Faust posted 15 saves as host Ridley toppled Abington, 11-8, Saturday in the Relentless Cup High School Game.

The game was part of a full day HEADstrong Foundation event that featured youth games and a special college game between Lehigh and Georgetown Saturday night. Proceeds went to the HEADstrong Foundation’s fight against blood cancer.
For Ridley, the win means a lot. Last Saturday the Green Raiders were handily defeated in the HEADstrong Rivalry Games by host Avon Grove. Nick Colleluori would have been proud of Saturday’s effort as Ridley controlled it from the start.
“Him being from Ridley, we all know what it’s about and we try to play like he would if he were here,” said Harrison. “We were hyped up against a good team.
The win lifted Ridley to 7-3; Abington, which had won five straight, fell to 6-3.
The Raiders had lost three straight until defeating Harriton Thursday.
“We’ve been practicing hard and hopefully the results will come,” Harrison said. “This is a game that can boost our confidence.”
Cade Heverly won 16 of 23 face-offs for Ridley.
For Abington, Cameron Leech and Will Dulin each had two goals and an assist and goalie Blake Friedman was strong with 11 saves.
“It was a game we were looking forward to,” said Abington coach Peter Burns. “It’s great to be able to play a quality opponent like Ridley, but more to contribute in some way to the HEADstrong Foundation.
“We knew coming in the teams were kind of even and we knew we had to execute to come out on top. It just wasn’t our day today.”
Burns said this type of event is a positive experience for all involved.
“I am originally from Syracuse,” he said. “Growing up (and) playing lacrosse and now being able to coach, I am a big proponent of what lacrosse can give back to individual players and the community.
“Organizations like HEADstrong give players a way to give back to the community in a meaningful way.”
