The Relentless Cup was introduced in 2012 as a new spring fundraising event to support the HEADstrong Foundation’s fight against blood cancers. In its inaugural year, the event featured Hofstra University who captured the coveted trophy in a 13-1 victory over St. Joseph’s University.

The youth component of the Relentless Cup is one that makes the event truly unique. Community-based youth lacrosse programs have been hand-selected by the Relentless Cup Committee to represent their specific region. Boy’s teams competing at the 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels have the chance to play 3 full games against non-conference opponents.

Being able to showcase lacrosse at all levels is another thing that makes the Relentless Cup such a special event. This year Ridley High School, which was HF™ Founder Nicholas Colleluori’s high school alma mater, will face-off against Abington High School.

The event will culminate with a heavily anticipated matchup between the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh University and the Georgetown Hoyas. Both collegiate teams have strong ties to the cause as Lehigh Head Coach Kevin Cassese has been a strategic ally in the fight and a key advocate for the cause within the college game and Georgetown Head Coach Kevin Warne played collegiately at Hofstra University, where Colleluori attended. The game is all the more important to Georgetown Assistant Coach Matt Rewkowski, who coached at Hofstra during Colleluori’s battle against non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Proceeds from The Relentless Cup will support Nick’s House™, the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma Research Fund and the quality of life services for cancer patients and families provided by the HEADstrong Foundation™.

“We are very proud to present the 2nd Annual Relentless Cup for the 2014 lacrosse season. Last year we were really taken aback by the response of our supporters as the event exceeded our expectations. It inspired us to make the event even better so we expanded the youth component allowing for more players and families to be part of it and set out to land an incredible collegiate matchup. We are truly thankful to Nick’s beloved Ridley High School for allowing us the ability to host this event on campus and wish to sincerely thank Lehigh University, Georgetown University and all of the participating programs for joining our fight. We look forward to sharing an enjoyable spring day of lacrosse with so many wonderful people.”
-Cheryl Colleluori, HEADstrong President and Nick’s Mom
