Adam Goldner scored on a fastbreak to lift visiting Malvern Prep to an 11-10 overtime victory today over Avon Grove in a non-league game.
The Friars, the No 1 team in the Phillylacrosse.com Rankings, improved to 6-0. The Red Devils, ranked No. 4, fell to 1-1.
Avon Grove’s Tanner Peck (two goals) gave his team the lead with 2:30 to play, but Malvern Prep sent it into overtime when Conor Glancy scored with 14 seconds left.
Kevin McGeary led Malvern with four goals and Goldner had two goals and three assists while Kyle Anderson, who had the assist on the game-winner, also had two goals. Charles Kelly won 16 of 22 face-offs.
For Avon Grove, Bryce Reid had two goals and an assist while Stephen Cyron, Ryan Cook and Tanner Peck each scored twice.
