Clearview High School (NJ) 2015 defender Olivia Mittleman has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Sacred Heart University.

Olivia Mittleman log:

Olivia Mittleman
Olivia Mittleman

High School: Clearview High School, New Jersey

Graduation Year: 2015

Position: Defense

College Choice: Sacred Heart University

Club Affiliation: South Jersey Select

Lacrosse Honors: 1st team All-Conference, Team of the year 2011 & 2013, Academic All-American, Northeast Top 215

Academic honors, service projects: Honor Roll, Superintendent’s list, National Honor Society, Volunteer Puppy Raiser for the Seeing Eye Organization

What will you major in/study? Communication Studies (concentration in Sports Media) or Marketing (concentration in Sport Marketing)

Why did you choose Sacred Heart? “I chose Sacred Heart because it’s the perfect fit for me. They offer the two majors I’m deciding between with a sports concentration in both. I also loved the team and the coaches. Coaches (Laura) Cook and (Amanda) Williams made me feel right at home, which I think will make the transition to college a lot easier. The proximity to New York City was also a plus!”

Thoughts on this past season/outlook for next season? “This past season our team was a top competitor, and we held our ground against some of the best teams in the state.

“For this coming season I have high expectations, and hope to make it to the South Jersey Group 3 Championship. This year’s team is comprised of many returning players, so we’re familiar with each other’s strengths, which is a big advantage.”

Thank You: “I want to thank my parents for being so supportive through the recruiting process.

“I would also like to thank my High School coach, Megan Conklin, for pushing me to play at my highest potential possible. Without her I definitely would not be where I am today. KC Knobloch has also been extremely helpful throughout the process. SJS is a great program and continues to place many players at elite schools.

“Finally, I’d like to thank my teammates. Because of them, I love this sport more than I knew would be possible. I cannot thank them enough for the memories and experiences we have shared.”

Other schools considered: Wagner College, Catholic University
