Eleven players scored as the U.S. Women’s National Team defeated Wales 19-2 on Saturday in Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup pool play.

Team USA attacker Katrina Dowd (Northwestern University) led all scorers with four goals and three assists, earning player of the match honors. Dowd capitalized on several feeds from linemate Katie Rowan (Syracuse University), who finished with two goals and three assists.

Wales tied the game at 1-1 with an early goal from Iona Dryden, but the U.S. answered with a dominating 18-goal spanning 56:37. Team USA controlled possession throughout the game, collecting 20 ground balls to Wales’ seven and forcing 12 failed clearing attempts.

U.S. team captain Lindsey Munday (Northwestern University) recorded two goals and three assists, one of eight players to record multiple points in the win. Katie Schwarzmann (University of Maryland) also notched two goals and two assists.

Team USA sits atop Pool A with a 2-0 record heading into Sunday’s 3 p.m. ET matchup against Australia (1-1). The two teams have met in the finals of the last four World Cup tournaments, with the U.S. winning three times, including an 8-7 decision at the 2009 FIL World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic. They last met in an Oct. 2012 exhibition in Palo Alto, Calif., with the U.S. winning 12-11.
