Dylan Hollander received a special birthday present on Friday.

Having just turned 12 on Thursday, the South Jersey native and Philadelphia Wings fan had a surprise visit from Wings standout Kevin Crowley while recovering from major knee surgery at du Pont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.

Hollander, 12, of Hainesport, underwent surgery on Wednesday afternoon that required his leg be broken, in an effort to even the length of his legs. Hollander plays lacrosse for a club in Medford and also participates in several other sports.

His birthday present was even bigger than the visit and kinds words of encouragement from Crowley – he received Crowley’s stick.

The Wings will pay tribute to those who serve our country including firefighters, police officers and members of the military on American Heroes Night when they play the Calgary Roughnecks at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday at 4 p.m. The team will wear special camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game.

Proceeds will benefit The Wounded Warrior Project. Tickets for all Wings home games start at just $10 and are available online at www.WINGSLAX.com.
