Tuesday’s girls’ HS highlights: Great Valley holds off Henderson in Ches-Mont showdown

Emily Scullin collected eight goals and two assists Great Valley held off a late Henderson rally Tuesday en route to a key 16-14 victory over the visiting Warriors Tuesday night in a Ches-Mont League battle of unbeatens.

The Patriots (13-1 overall, 8-0 Ches-Mont) moved into sole possession of first place in the league
Henderson (10-3, 6-1), though, made things interesting after trailing 14-6 in the second half as Katie O’Donnell spearheaded the comeback with nine goals.

Henderson outscored Great Valley, 8-2, and got as close as 16-14 with just under two minutes remaining after O’Donnell scored his final tally.

Brittany Edwards and Kirsten Hale each added three goals for the Pats while Avery Murphy added a pair.

Ali Pugliese added two goals for the Warriors.

Moorestown 16, Clearview 3

Marie McCool had five goals as the No. 1 Quakers remained undefeated.

Cape Henlopen 9, Worcester Prep (MD) 6

The Vikings improved to 10-0 by knocking off their 10-2 foes from Maryland as Anna Frederick and Allie Yeager each scored three goals and Sara Young added a pair.

Agnes Irwin 20, Springside 11

Eliza Moran scored seven goals to lead the Owls to the Inter-Ac win.

Mt. St. Joseph Academy 16, Villa Maria Academy 14

Isabella Balcer and Emilee Ehret each had three goals and an assist, Marley Breslin had two goals and four assists and Alex Lita made 11 saves as the Mount remained tied for first place in the Catholic Academies.

Megan Parsons had five goals and two assists as well as three caused turnovers and four draw controls for Villa Maria.

Merion Mercy 15, Gwynedd Mercy 11

Juls D’Orazio had five goals and three assists and Olivia Nostrant added five goals and one assist for the Bears.

Sacred Heart 11, Nazareth Academy 10

Callie Fisher scored four goals and Abby McGuckin added three for Sacred Heart.

Notre Dame 17, Penn Charter 9

Katie Schneider led the Irish with four goals and four assists while Courtney Donovan added three goals and three assists.

Kelly Kubach had three goals for Penn Charter.

Germantown Academy 23, Baldwin School 14

Hanna Bogorowski collected seven goals and three assists for GA.

Eliza Mantelmache had three goals and an assist for Baldwin.

Wissahickon 19, Cheltenham 9

Laura Frankenfield collected nine goals and three assists to lead the Trojans to victory.

Pottstown 13, Jenkintown 12 (OT)

Kelsey Shumaker had five goals, including the game winner with 0:46 left in the first half of OT to lead the Trojans.

Haley Smith had five goals and two assists for the Drakes.
