From Press Release

The Strath Haven boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams are holding their inaugural “Play for the As” fundraising event on Saturday with South Jersey powers Moorestown.

Haven coaches Jef Hewlings and Rachel Busza and the Panther players are raising funds to support Alzheimer’s Association and Autism Speaks, two charitable organizations near and dear to the coaches’ hearts.

After JV games at 2:30 pm, the Strath Haven girls – ranked No. 6 by Phillylacrosse.com – and No. 1 Moorestown Quakers (12-0, also ranked No. 2 in the nation by TopLaxRecruits.com) will meet at 4 p.m. After that the Lacrosse Boosters will present a donation to the coaches to help support the missions of both organizations. The boys’ game will be held at 6 p.m.; Moorestown’s boys are also undefeated and ranked No. 7 by Phillylacrosse.com.

The Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Each year, the Association reaches millions of people affected by Alzheimer’s across the globe through our national office and more than 75 local chapters.

The Association provides services to those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias, including a professionally staffed 24/7 Helpline, thousands of local support groups and education programs, and a rich variety of online programs.

Autism Speaks’ goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorder. They are dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder.

Autism Speaks aims to bring the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global health crisis. Working together, we will find the missing pieces of the puzzle. Autism Speaks. It’s time to listen.
