Saturday’s boys’ HS highlights: Haverford School tops Radnor, Garnet Valley OTs Shanahan

Gavin McBride scored three goals and Timmy Brooks had two in the fourth quarter as visiting Haverford School toppled Radbor, 9-7, Saturday in a boys’ lacrosse matchup of highly-ranked teams.
Jake Landman was a standout in goal with 12 saves, many of them critical, for the Fords (4-3) – who won their fourth in a row as they gear for Monday’s Inter-Ac League opener at home against Penn Charter.

The Red Raiders (4-2) jumped out to a 3-2 lead after one quarter on a hat trick from freshman Jack Wilson. Radnor then took a 5-3 lead on a goal by Connor Burns.

But McBride sparked a 5-0 spurt with two of his goals and the Fords held on.

Peter Donato scored twice for the Raiders and Brendan Manderack had 10 saves.

Garnet Valley 6, Bishop Shanahan 5, OT

Robert Raucci notched his third game-winning goal of the year, in overtime, and had three tallies overall to lead the Jaguars (4-2) to the win over the previously-undefeated Eagles (3-1).

Vail Urso had a goal and an assist, while Dylan Lee and Brock D’Annunzio also scored.John Mehok and Alex Wagner scored two goals apiece and Anthony Wagner had 14 saves for the Eagles.

Great Valley 13, Strath Haven 10

Tyler Haines scored four goals and dished three assists and Tim lamb had four goals for the Patriots (4-2).

Will Ohley had three goals and three assist for Strath Haven.

Moorestown 8, Ridge 7

Michael Handlan had four goals and an assist and Matt Olbrich had two goals and won 10 of 17 face-offs for the Quakers (3-0) in their won over the NJ power.

Marple Newtown 12, Unionville 11, 2 OT

Dave Talda had four goals, including the game-winner with 19 seconds left in double OT for the Tigers.

Dave Dagessian and Tyler Kostack each had three goals and an assist for Marple Newtown, while Ian Callahan made 14 saves.

Winslow Davis scored five goals and Chris Baker made 19 saves for Unionville.

Penncrest 10, Souderton 5

Will Manganiello collected four goals and two assists, while casey brown made nine saves to lead the Lions (4-0).

Cory Anlauf had two goals for the Indians.

Abington 7, Downingtown East 3

Eric Goldsborough made 17 saves in goal and Joey Lomady had three goals and five groundballs while Austin Pifani led the defense with six groundballs and four takeaways to pace the Ghost to the win.
