Salesianum School junior midfielder Troy Reeder has changed not only his school commitment, but his sport.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder verbally committed to play linebacker for the Penn State football team on Tuesday. He had committed to play lacrosse at North Carolina a year ago.

Reeder reportedly had offers from football powers such as Boston College, Maryland, Miami and Pittsburgh, among others.

Last year in lacrosse Reeder earned Delaware First-Team All-State honors and Northern Delaware honors when he helped Salesianum to its second straight state crown. Reeder had 47 goals and 30 assists. Reeder plays for the Man Up club team.

In football, Reeder was a First-Team All-State pick in 2012 and also earned “1290 The Ticket” Defensive Player of the year while leading the Sals to the state finals.

Reeder has a three-star rating from 247Sports and is the No. 22 inside linebacker nationally according to the 247Composite.
