Scott McAvoy

High School: Wyomissing Area High School

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Attackman/Midfielder

College Choice: Lafayette College

Club Affiliation: Duke’s L.C.

Lacrosse Honors: US Lacrosse Academic All-American 2014, Under Armour 2014 Uncommitted Game, Duke’s Offensive MVP at Champ Camp 2012, All-Berks County First Team 72 goals

Academic Honors: National Honor Society Member, Top 10 of class, National AP Scholar with Distinction, Berks Youth in Action Member

What will you major in/study? Economics

Why did you choose Lafayette? “I chose Lafayette because it has a strong academic reputation and I get to compete at the Division 1 level in the Patriot League. Coach (James) Rogalski and his staff were great and I’m impressed how they are transforming the program.”

Outlook for upcoming season? “We lost some talented seniors so this year we will be a young team. There is a bunch of young talent so we don’t expect any setbacks. With that said I expect to make a run in the County playoffs and hope to reach Districts.”

Additional Comments: “I would first like to thank my parents for being there with me through all the tournaments, car rides, and games and for supporting me throughout the whole process.

“Next, I would not have had the top exposure if it weren’t for Ebe Helm and The Duke’s Lacrosse Club. Ebe, Jason Christmas, Mike Mackrides, and Joe Vetrone each guided me and gave me the coaching and opportunity to play at the highest level.

“A big thanks goes to Kacy Small who influenced me early on and to Scott Helm who started lacrosse in my area and first introduced me to the game.

“I attribute a lot of my strength and conditioning to John Schaeffer at Winning Factor and Tom DiSalvo who have been working with me for years and have helped transform me into the athlete I am today.”
