Wantagh (N.Y.) rising senior attackman Kyle Cain has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University.

Kyle Cain log:

High school: Wantagh High School, Long Island, N.Y.

Graduation year: 2014

Position:
Attack

College choice:
St. Joseph’s

Club affiliation:
Long Island Express, Long Island Outlaws

Major lacrosse honors: 100+ points in two varsity seasons, All-County 2013 with 33 goals 26 assists, Nassau County rising senior team, Hofstra LI Classic All-Star team, Nike Blue Chip 2013

What will you major in/study: undecided

Why did you choose school:
“I was very impressed with both Coach (Taylor) Wray and Coach (Dan) Keating. The program is heading in the right direction. I feel I can help take St. Joseph’s to the next level. The school has a great reputation and it was my favorite college visit.”

Outlook for your high school team:
“We’ll be young (graduated 23 seniors), but we’ll be hungry. The competition for playing time with the underclassmen has already started this summer. It will only make us better. I am looking forward to being a senior leader and helping lead us to a county championship.”

Other comments:
“My high school coaches, Gary Reh and John Cuiffo, had the confidence in me to be a sophomore starter. Peter LeSueur (Johns Hopkins) and Tom Hughes (Rising Stars) were my trainers in Lacrosse and Basketball. Most importantly, I would not have made it to this point without the love and support of my Mom and Dad.”
