Colin Strange

High school: Hempfield

Year of graduation: 2015

Position: Midfielder

College choice: Marquette

Club affiliation:
Duke’s LC, Low and Away Lancaster

Lacrosse honors, camps, showcases: Top 205 All Star, Big 4 Showcase All Star, Baltimore Summer Kick Off Featured Five, Crab Feast Champions 2012, Tri-State Champions 2012 (Duke’s 2015)

Academic honors: Distinguished Honor Roll, Toys 4 Tots Helper, HEADstring Volunteer

Intended major:
Business/ Economics

Why did you choose school? “Marquette has a perfect combination of great academics and big time Division I athletics. The prestige of the University stretches coast to coast. I think Coach (Joe) Amplo, Coach (John) Orsen and the rest of their staff are all great guys who will do amazing things with this program and I wanted to be a part of starting the legacy of Marquette Lacrosse. Also, the city of Milwaukee seems like an awesome place to spend four years of my life.”

HS team’s outlook in 2014: “Last year our team had so much great talent and when we were all on the same page we were a nightmare for opposing teams, especially in our overtime win during the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship. Although we lost a few very key players last year, I think some guys will step up to fill their roles and we should find ourselves back in the LL League Championship next May.”

Other comments: “First, I would like to thank my parents and family for all of their support. Without them none of this would have been possible. Also, I would like to thank Coach Dave Ondrusek and Jeff Davis for teaching me the game and helping broaden my horizons as a person and player. Thank you to Coach Ebe Helm and Coach Jason Christmas for all their great coaching and encouragement on the field and for helping advocate for me through this process. Last, thank you to Coach Kyle Wimer and Chris Nicodemi for helping me come into my own on the field and turning me into a more dangerous player.”

Other schools considered:
St. Joe’s, Rutgers, High Point
