Episcopal Academy rising senior LSM-defenseman Raphael Furey has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Boston University.

Raphael Furey log:

Raphael Furey

High School: Episcopal Academy

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: LSM/defenseman

College Choice: Boston University

Club Affiliation: NXT 2014

Major lacrosse honors: Episcopal Academy 2014 Co-Captain, Legacy All-Star 2013, Philly Showcase

What will you major in/study? Communications

Why did you choose B.U.? “I chose Boston U for its strong academics and opportunity to play right away at a new program. Coach (Ryan) Polley has the program headed in the right direction with BU joining the highly competitive Patriot League. The campus was also a major factor as I loved the urban setting and size.”

What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “We graduated a great 2013 class that left a tremendous legacy at Episcopal. While it will be hard to replace them, we have many talented underclassmen who are ready to step up and compete in the Inter-Ac, as well as a hungry senior class looking to leave our own mark on the program.

“A lot of people are already counting us for next season but with a strong off season and non-conference schedule, we look to once again compete for an Inter-Ac Championship and be recognized on a National level.”

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank my family, first and foremost, for their continued support and guidance. The coaches at Episcopal, Andy Hayes, defensive coaches Will Gibbs and Todd Fairlie, and Marty Kupprion. The coaches at NXT, Andy Hayes, Marty Kupprion, Brett Manney, Mike Avato, and Warren Danenza.

“Finally, thanks to my friends and teammates from the NXT family.”
