Ryan McQuaide log:

Ryan McQuaide
Ryan McQuaide

High School: Dover High School

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Defense

College Choice: Yale University

Club Affiliation: Team 302

Major lacrosse honors: 2013: 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-Henlopen Conference, 2013 MVP Tournament All-Star, 2013 Hotbeds Tournament All-Star, Robert Morris Nike Camp Defensive MVP, All-Phillylacrosse.com Delaware team for 2013, over 100 caused turnovers, ground balls and clears in 2013

Academic honors, service projects: National Honor Society, Delaware Governor’s School for Excellence, Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership, DIAA Youth Leadership Conference

What will you major in/study? Pre-Medicine

Why did you choose Yale? “I chose Yale because I think it offers me the best opportunity to succeed. Yale is one of the top Universities in the world, and one of the top lacrosse programs in the Nation. Coach (Andy) Shay has a blue collar mentality and the team is very tight-knit. I think that I can thrive under those conditions.”

Looking back at last year/what is your HS team’s outlook for next season? “Last year Coach Coveleski took us to the State quarterfinals and that was the furthest Dover High had ever been. We graduated 17 seniors last year so this year’s team is very young, but I’m optimistic that we can achieve even more than last season.”

Additional comments: “I’d like to thank my parents, Coach Coveleski and my other coaches at Dover High, Coach Jay Motta and Coach Keevin Galbraith from Team 302, and Coach Andy Shay and Coach Andrew Baxter from Yale for giving me this awesome opportunity.”

Other schools considered: University of Delaware, Hofstra University, Robert Morris University
