Below are six players that shined at the Philly Senior Showcase Saturday at United Sports in Downingtown.
Bryce Barnett, Plano West (Plano, Tx) Defense. Barnett has solid positioning and moves well with his attackman that he is defending. Barnett delivers some monster checks and gets to the groundballs pretty easily. Barnett had a good day.
Derek Downs, Hill Academy, (Etobicoke, ON) Attack. Downs was arguably the best player on the field in each game during the Senior Showcase. The Canadian born attackman had terrific stick skills and a pretty dangerous shot on cage.
Ryan Cook, Avon Grove (Pa.) Attack. This lefty attackman has a nice game. He finishes, he handles the ball well, and he gets open and creates offense away from the ball. Cook was named one of the day’s top performers by NXT Showcase.
Chris Stone, Upper Darby (Pa.) Attack. Stone has a great shot on cage and he looks to enjoy the game while out on the field, even in the frigid temperatures. Stone helped his case and elevated his stock after Saturday.
Noah Alford, Bella Vista (Calif.) Goalie. Alford is a communicator, he lets his defenders where to be and how to get to the right slides. The California goalie made some nice saves in the cold weather and managed to get the ball up the field on the clear.
Zach Wentzel, Hempfield (Pa.), Defenseman. Displayed terrific footwork and good all around skills. Strong slides. Also honored by NXT for his performance. Should get a few extra looks by college coaches.
